When Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle (DON) emerged victorious in the August 2025 bye-election following the demise of his predecessor, many expected his relatively short time in office to limit what he could achieve. Instead, he has turned that assumption on its head. At a time when the National Assembly is constrained by delayed implementation of constituency budgets and limited fiscal space, many lawmakers have struggled to deliver projects to their constituents. Yet, Hon. Oyekunle has refused to allow these realities—or the fact that he came into office midway through the legislative term—to define his representation. The Oyo State chapter of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has dismissed the reconciliation committee recently inaugurated by the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the initiative as a futile exercise that will fail to resolve the party's lingering internal crisis ahead of the 2027 general elections. In a statement issued by the APM Publicity Secretary, Amubode Oluwatosin, the party said the APC was embarking on a "failed mission," arguing that the reconciliation effort was "dead on arrival" because of what it described as entrenched divisions within the opposition party. Adekanmbi, who visited the market today, to assess the extent of the damage, expressed sadness over the destruction of goods and means of livelihood caused by the inferno.
