In Solidarity To The Lives Lost, #EndSARS 1st Anniversary, Youths On A Peaceful Protest In Ibadan
A protest to mark the first anniversary of EndSARS movement began as early as 9am on Wednesday.


The protesters gathered at popular Iwo Road Roundabout with big banners having different inscriptions.

This is despite a ban on protests in Oyo State and the heavy presence of armed police personnel at different strategic junctions across Ibadan metropolis.

Our correspondent, who monitored the protest reports that the protesters were chanting as they marched from Iwo Road to Idi Ape, Agodi Gate and state Secretariat.


Some of the protesters who spoke with our correspondent noted that they decided to embark on the memorial protest to express their displeasure against police brutality and extra judicial killings meted out on innocent citizens. The protesting youths went ahead with the protest despite warnings from the Nigeria Police Force, Oyo Police Command. The protest has been largely peaceful in the state capital and no arrest has been made.


As at the time of filing in this report, the protesters have arrived at the state secretariat.

The leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC have insisted that there is no going back on the nationwide industrial action slated to commence on Monday, June 3, 2024. Strike: Aviation Unions To Shut Local, International Airports

In compliance with the indefinite strike declared by the organised labour, aviation unions have directed members to withdraw services across airports in Nigeria. The withdrawal would take effect by 12:00 am on Monday June 3, the unions declared. The unions include the National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN), Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) and the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE). It was learnt that they took the decision after an emergency meeting held on Sunday.
