OPINION: Makinde, Tessy, Penkelemesi And The Third Trap~  Ogunwoye
There is this popular Yoruba adage that a trap set for Sparrow catches Alligator “Pakute ti won de fun Aparo ti mu Agilinti”, this adage is corroborated by another powerful rhetoric that says a fire sets for Vulture would make another bird its victim, “Inakina ti won ba da sile fun eye Igunugun, eyekeye nii fori ko” that’s simply because Bible affirmed in the book of Psalm 91:7 that “A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee”.
Few months after the conclusion of 2019 General Election, Senator Teslim publicly said Two traps were already set for People’s Governor Seyi Makinde, he boasted that if he escapes one, he would not escape other. That was at the moment when Supreme Court verdict was to be made, Tessy and his people wanted to corner people’s mandate through backdoor but the mandate was too popular to be stolen.

The second trap was to make Oyo State ungovernable. We are all witnesses to how politically sponsored violence erupted in Oyo State at a point, most especially in Ibadan to use insecurity to discredit the Governor of the masses, but because their treacherous moves are inimical to our general existence, they also failed as perpetrators of crisis in the State are all tamed with iron fist.
Governor Seyi Makinde triumphed over all the two traps set by Tessy and his cohorts. GSM continues to be a beloved to the good people of Oyo State. But what Senator Teslim Folarin did not tell the public is that if GSM escapes the two traps, he had another Third Trap set for people who are in the same Party with him.

Tessy left PDP for APC where he met a lot of stakeholders. Bayo Adelabu Penkelemesi was the flag bearer of APC in 2019 election. In a normal sense, after the demise of Ajimobi, he should be in the best position to coordinate the party and pick the Gubernatorial Ticket again, him and others never knew a trap was already set for them even in the party they have labored for and spent fortune. Alas, the trap that Makinde escaped, Penkelemesi and other APC stakeholders were caught in it.

First of all, he hijacked the party structure from them, he became Mr. Jagba of APC, he handpicked State Executives, Delegates and relegated everyone he met in the party. Secondly, he crafted his machination perfectly and outsmarted the so called progressives as he hijacked APC Gubernatorial ticket in the just concluded primaries. The previous owners of APC are now tenants in their party, in fact, Tessy trap has caught not just one alligator, but some big ALLIGATORS because as Tessy continues to laugh, there are sound of cacophony and melancholy in the camp of Penkelemesi, Akintola, Adeseun and others in their Party.

As for the son of Makinde, Isaiah 54:15 becomes our watchword “Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake”. The trap setters and his co-travelers will always and continue to fall in their traps. Tortoise is killed but by its sword! Ida Ahun niipa Ahun.
